Olympic trench - olympic trap - olympic bunker |
Olympic trench is commonly called trap or olympic trap or also olympic bunker.
In olympic trench, there are six shooters shoting the clay pigeons, rotating to the right after every
shot, cause there are only 5 platforms, distan 3 meters one from the other. The trap machines are 15 meters from the platforms.
The clay is launched automatically and instantaneusly when the shooter gives the order (shouting "pull"). The shooter stands with the shotgun ready and charged with two shots. Every serie is composed by 25 clays. There are 3 trap machines for every platform, so that in Olympic trench there are 15 trap machines.
The direction of the clays may vary from 0 to 45° to the right or to the left. Targets have a minimum height of 1.5 meters and a maximum height of 3.5 meters as measured 10 meters in front of the bunker (platforms). The thrown clay will be touching land after a parabolic curve, from 75 to 80 meters. The velocity of the clay may vary from 100 and 120 km/hrs.
The clay is usually shotted, in the first 35 meters, with a reaction of the shooter that may vary from 5 to 6 tenth of seconds.
Olympic trench is a shotgun discipline of the Olympic Games from the Paris edition of 1900, as a demostrative sport.
Till Tokyo 1964
it was the only shotgun discipline admitted, so it may be considered as the mother of all the shotgun disciplines. |
