Universal trap, shotgun discipline |
The universal trap (trap)
is quite similar to the olympic trench. The mostr important differences are: the trap machines are 5, the game is composed by 8 series of 25 clays and it doesn't include a final, finishing with the launch of the 200 clays.
This shotgun discipline was included recently into the Olympic Games.
In the universal trap shooters are divided in teams of six shooters. In the field there are just 5 platforms, but the shooters rotate, so that every shooter will be shooting from all the five platforms.
The clay in the universal trap is thrown automatically and instantaneusly when the shooter gives the order (shouting "pull"). The shooter stands with the shotgun ready and charged with two shots. Every serie is composed by 25 clays. There are 3 trap machines for every platform, so that in Olympic trench there are 15 trap machines. The direction of the clays may vary from 0 to 45° to the right or to the left. Targets have a minimum height of 1.5 meters and a maximum height of 3.5 meters as measured 10 meters in front of the bunker (platforms). The thrown clay will be touching land after a parabolic curve, from 75 to 80 meters. The velocity of the clay may vary from 100 and 120 km/hrs. The clay is usually shotted, in the first 35 meters, with a reaction of the shooter that may vary from 5 to 6 tenth of seconds.
